Strong Through Change

Moxie Barbell

Hi, I’m Carly—coach, lifter, and the human behind Moxie Barbell. If you asked me what 2025 would look like, I would’ve said “ski days and strong lifts.” Instead, 2025 turned into an ACL surgery year and a full-on lesson in rebuilding trust with my body.

My husband, Michael, and I moved to Tahoe last year because we were excited to make skiing and biking part of our actual lives instead of just a weekend-warrior thing. Then the ACL injury happened six weeks after our move, so the “Tahoe era” started off a little differently than planned.

Recovery has been extremely humbling.

A huge part of what I help people work toward as a coach is building the confidence that their body won’t be the thing that holds them back from doing what they love. I’ve never really questioned my body’s abilities, so for the first time, being limited by what my body could do genuinely rocked my identity. It’s also forced me to practice what I preach—showing up consistently, celebrating the non-dramatic wins, and learning how to adapt without quitting.

That’s also the heartbeat of how I coach.

I lead with the psychology of behavior change because most people don’t need more information; they need help bridging the gap between intention and follow-through in a way that works in real life. My goal is to help people build a relationship with training and nutrition that feels supportive instead of punishing—creating a process they actually enjoy, developing self-compassion, and working through the deeply rooted mindsets that have been keeping them stuck. Less guilt, more confidence, and a mindset that’s kind enough to be sustainable.

I coach people who are tired of the all-or-nothing cycle and want something that lasts—a plan that fits your lifestyle, evolves when life changes, and helps you feel good in your body without needing to hate yourself into changing.
