In this month’s ‘Take 5 at The Club’ we meet Club 100 member, Heather Parsons.
Heather lives in Tahoe but her path here started via Virginia City, Reno, Boston and New York. She’s a pediatric dentist in Minden and is always up to something athletic from training with Eufay, taking classes at Club 100, completing a half and full marathon or just enjoying the Tahoe mountains by skiing and hiking. Find out more about Heather and what brings her to Tahoe Club 100.
About Me….
I am originally from Virginia City, Nevada, but after going to school in Reno, Boston, and New York, I met my husband and ended up settling in Lake Tahoe, where I met Eufay and Club 100—now the rest is history! I own my own pediatric dental practice in Minden, and balance out the stressful parts of doing dentistry on children with awesome workouts and real, nutritious foods. I dabble in a little of everything fitness— running, spinning, yoga, and of course a lot of Tabata when training with Eufay. I really love food, so that keeps me working out. I also love the Tahoe lifestyle of being outdoors, and my husband and I are always looking for fun travel adventures. This year we went to Mexico, Switzerland, Canada, and Aruba all in the first 3 months of the year— and I trained for a half marathon the whole time! Running in all of those
places was really cool (or hot depending on where we were!).
What made you Choose Tahoe Club 100?
I heard about Club 100 after my husband introduced me to Eufay, and it was such a positive, clean environment that I knew right away it was going to be my home gym.
Take 5 Questions
Question #1
What drives you to work-out?
A: Food! Eufay! And just how it makes me feel. I know that I will feel happier after those endorphins kick in, and that it will help me to be stronger mentally and physically. Working out also helps me to be able
to do the other things I love like dentistry, skiing, golfing, and hiking with my dogs for a long time.
Question #2
What’s your proudest fitness moment?
A: There have been a couple things that made me feel proud—finishing my first half-marathon about 10 years ago—before that time I was never a runner, so that felt like a huge accomplishment. Then about a year later I did a full marathon in San Francisco and that was even better. Finishing a 13 mile Tough Mudder was also very challenging, and I had never in my life been so muddy! Now I’m proud every time I finish 8 rounds of Tabata or master a challenging yoga pose. Perspective changes as you age 🙂
Question #3
Favorite Exercises or Piece of Equipment? Why?
A: I really love spinning, the energy of the people in the room and the awesome instructors that they have at Club 100 make it super fun and a great workout. As far as equipment, I’m a fan of jump rope and kettle
bells because they are simple and you can get in an effective and tough workout with them.
Question #4
What’s your Favorite work out song, artist or album?
A: Justin Timberlake is my #1. Anything that is upbeat and motivating I can work out to.
Question #5
What’s in your gym bag?
A: Hmmm…I don’t always carry one, since as anyone that knows me can attest to, I really only ever wear workout clothes for everything I do. When I do have a bag, it always has dry shampoo—whoever invented that stuff should get some sort of lifetime achievement award. Deodorant, a hairbush, some extra socks and bobby pins are usually in there too.
